Breaking in my marathon shoes!

High 40s and sunny – a gorgeous day to start getting some miles on my new shoes!

Did 3.88 miles along the Charles River.  I started at my apartment and ended at the Northeastern University gym for some sorely needed (yes, that’s a pun) strength training. Then it was off to work!

  1. HI Sweetheart…….Are you sure you’ll have the shoes broken in, in time for the race? Wearing fairly new shoes for your first marathon doesn’t seem very wise to me. But what do I know, I’m just a grandmother of a wonderful granddaughter who is very determined. However, she is extremely smart and probably knows all about blisters and such that can happen when running in new shoes……..Seriously, how are you feeling?………I’m trying to find out where I can get a tracking app for my iPad, to follow the race. Last year the BAA had one that could be purchased on iTunes. But apparently not this year. Do you know of such a device? I’d love to know how you were doing in real time……..How’s work? Anything new since I last talked with you? Email, texting and commenting isn’t the same as hearing your lovely voice. With that hint, I send you my love as always. NANA.

    • Hi Nana! Yes, three weeks will be plenty of time to break in my shoes! This way, my shoes will still have fresh cushioning, but I’ll avoid blistering. (Always a good thing, and I’ve been lucky so far – no blisters at all during training!) I’ll be sending out an email soon with information about tracking me during the race. There are a few ways you can search for me, but the easiest will be to go to the BAA website on race day. They change the website so that you can watch the broadcast of the race and also track runners along the route. Stay tuned via email! 🙂 Work was busy during March, but it’s going well! I’ll give you a call this weekend, and we can catch up. Love, Denise
